Re: Application for Employment
To Whom it may concern,
I am a college student-athlete at Thomas University. Since I have ran cross-country and track during my whole career, I lack the experience that is needed to hold a coaching position. However, throughout my running career, I have become a hardworking and committed athlete who practices six days per week and gives nothing less than his best at meets. I credit my skills as a leader to the years I spent as a captain of my high school cross-country and track teams. With my vast knowledge of running and my great leadership skills, it is clear why you should consider me for a coaching position.
Coaching wasn’t always my dream growing up. As a child, when you’re involved in sports you always want to be the next star athlete. At the beginning of my athletic career, I thought that sport would be basketball or football. Even though I had a greater interest in basketball and football, running soon prevailed as my favorite sport. What made me pursue running was the extra competitive drive it gave me to improve as a runner. I eventually found out how tough the sport was, but that only encouraged me to do it more. Now I soon realize that my time as a competitive runner will come to an end. That’s what sparked my interest in coaching. After I’m done with running as an athlete, I want to be able to inspire others and help them improve.
I am a hard-working and committed individual that will show up to work every day and give nothing less than my best. I appreciate any and every opportunity I get to coach. Thank you for your time today, and remember to consider me when making your decision on the next great distance coach.
Sincerely,
Justin Tomison
